is my joe pye weed ever going to grow?
i enjoyed joe pye weed in my garden last year. i cut it back in the fall and now that we are well into april i am wondering if i should be seeing signs of life yet. it seems like everything else in my flower garden is well on it's way. it looks like there may be some dark purple roots trying to come up from below the surface; is this how the new growth begins? what should i look for?
Joe Pye is a late riser here in Zone 7B. It is just starting to stir, although plenty of plants are already up at least 4-6 inches by now. Next year I will put some daffodils in that part of the bed to remind me that they are late-risers.
